Derrick Woods

Derrick Woods joined CTAS in February 2023. Prior to coming to CTAS, Derrick served with the Tennessee Highway Safety, working directly with all law enforcement agencies and partners throughout TN. He also served over 32 years with the Cocke County sheriff’s office, reaching the rank of chief deputy. 

Derrick is a three-time recipient of Officer of the Year, awardee as Professional of the Month and a recipient of the 2019 Distinguished Service Award as Professional of the Year. He has held a police instructor certification since 1997 and has trained thousands of public safety professionals. 

Derrick is a graduate of the University of Tennessee National Forensic Academy, as well as a graduate of Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science degree.
